The Green Guide

April 2012

I often find myself wondering in my idle moments, do people want to read about the fantastic adventures that those chaps from the LTSU's Environment Office have? Could now be the time to tell the whole story?

The answer is of course, “Yes.”

Of course people want to read about the time we caught that pair of grave robbers in Tasmania.

We simply must tell some of our more wacky adventures we had in the more remote parts of the world.

Unfortunately, it turns out that most of these adventures were huge exaggerations or just plain lies.
(The Tasmanian one wasn’t entirely false… I have been to Tasmania, its great!)

So instead I shall give an overview of where we started and what we’ve achieved.

When we began the year, we had very clear ideas about what we wanted to achieve in the Enviro Office and Improved Public Transport Options and Improved Cycling Facilities were at the top of the list.

This past month we have made huge ground on both of these issues.

On the 12th of April we attended a meeting with University Management as well as Representatives from a number of Government departments (including the Dept of Transport and DPCD) and Darebin Council.
This meeting involved discussions to improve access to La Trobe, of which Public Transport and Cycling options were given priority.

We’ve also been running a very successful Sustainable Transport Campaign, of which the Shuttle Bus component has received over 200 signatures.

So, things are looking pretty good from the Enviro Office.
